Meet Dr. Christopher Ellstrom
Our plastic and reconstructive surgeon on staff at ZO Skin Centre® Newport Beach, Dr. Christopher Ellstrom, aspires to help men and women in Orange County and beyond with their aesthetic goals and medical skin care needs. Not only does he offer assessments and consultations in our office, but Dr. Ellstrom also treats patients in private practice. He is highly skilled and trained in aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries of the breast and body. He also performs oculoplastic surgery (cosmetic surgery of the skin around the eye). Dr. Ellstrom continues to actively contribute to the academic community and has ongoing medical research on the physiology of the aging face.
Early in his education, Dr. Ellstrom studied at the Florence University of the Arts in Florence, Italy and then double-majored in cinema-television and biological services at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors (Dean's List). Dr. Ellstrom went on to study medicine at Loma Linda University (LLU) to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree. He earned honors in biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, psychiatry, surgery, pediatrics, and family medicine at LLU. Under the leadership of program director Dr. Gregory R. D. Evans, Dr. Ellstrom completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at the prestigious Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Institute at the University of California in Irvine, CA. In this residency, Dr. Ellstrom gained experience in the assessment and treatment of ethnic skin. He also held an internship position in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco/San Joaquin program in Fresno, CA.
From 2011 – 2017, Dr. Ellstrom held an integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of California Irvine under the leadership and tutelage of program director, Dr. Gregory R.D. Evans in the Department of Plastic Surgery.

Awards and Honors
Dr. Ellstrom was presented with the Order of Omega by the National Honor and Leadership Society in 2005. He was named a "Renaissance Scholar" by the University of Southern California in 2006 and earned a Macpherson Society Research Scholarship at LLU in 2008. Dr. Ellstrom was honored in 2010 to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (ΑΩΑ). In addition, The California Society of Plastic Surgeons awarded Dr. Ellstrom the J.K. Hardesty Award on May 26, 2014, for "The Best Resident Paper."
